How do I start a game with my own photo?

After you sign in, open the Custom menu and you can start a game with your own photo. Travel shots, pets at home, or images you made yourself — all of them work.

What kinds of images work well when cut fine?

Images that work well for cutting: photos with clear outlines and distinct colors stay enjoyable even at a thousand pieces.
Images that work less well: large white walls, snowfields, nearly featureless skies, or empty grass. Those are easier around one to two hundred pieces; at a thousand, similar colors blur together and finding pieces gets hard. Crop out the bland areas before you start.

Is my photo safe?

The file is never uploaded to the server. The photo stays in your current browser only. The server only uses the image width and height to cut blank pieces; the picture itself stays on your device.

How do I play with friends?

For friends to see the same image, you need to send two things:
a. the room link
b. the original image file you used when starting

After they open the link, they choose the same image in their own browser before the picture appears. This avoids a single link exposing a photo to someone who was not ready to see it, so Custom mode is better for solo play or for people you already know.

Important tip

IM chat apps often compress images. They look the same, but the pixel width and height change, and the other person cannot select the file. Send it as a File, not pasted into the chat box.

Notes

a. If you switch computers, switch browsers, or clear site data, the photo disappears. When you return to that game, choose the same original file again.
b. If you open many Custom games at once, keep track of which link goes with which image.
c. Make sure you have the right to use the photo.
